Maille : To make a textile from interlocking rings, originally used as a form of armour but now expanded into jewelry, sculpture, and many other textiles. Also known as chain, mail, or the redundant “chainmail.” Never ever “plate mail”: as plate is solid metal and mail is interlocking rings, “plate mail” cannot exist!
Knit : To make a textile with various kinds of yarns and knitting needles (2+). Lots of different stitches, and especially good for solid fabrics.
Crochet : To make a textile with various kinds of yarns and crochet hooks (only 1!). Few basic stitches, goes fast, and very good for lacy things.
lysse-bird : a blog about forays into all of the above, as made by Elysse Meredith. For more information about the intrepid artist, peek at her main site at dreamhonu.com.
